Coaching
At a glance...
Life coaching helps you learn how to make choices that create an effective, balanced and fulfilling life.
It can give people the confidence to move forward in positive ways and alter the areas of life where they crave change.
Depending on your goals and profile, you and your coach may work together to bring: an improved sense of direction and focus; increased knowledge of self/self-awareness; greater ability to relate to and influence others; increased motivation; improved personal effectiveness (focused effort); increased resourcefulness/resilience (ability to handle change).
Sessions involve...
Coaching usually takes the form of conversations between the coach and the client. During these conversations, the coach uses a combination of observation, questioning, listening and feedback to assist the client’s learning and progress.
These sessions will address a combination of goals, depending on the client, such as: an improved sense of direction and focus; increased knowledge of self/self-awareness; greater ability to relate to and influence others; increased motivation; improved personal effectiveness (focused effort); increased resourcefulness/resilience (ability to handle change).

Family/Young Person
At a glance...
Family therapy can help families and people in close relationships communicate more effectively and resolve conflict or difficulties they may be having. It may be that one member of the family has a problem, which affects the rest of the family. The therapist works with the family to help resolve issues such as parenting, the child’s behaviour, divorce and separation, changes in family life and mental health.
Young person therapy is for any young person experiencing problems such as mental health, depression, relationships, school or family. It offers a space to talk about how you’re feeling, outside of school or the home, with an impartial person.
Sessions involve...
The therapist is there to offer an impartial ear to listen to anything that may be worrying or upsetting you. Sessions usually last about 1 hour, in which the family will gather in the same room, with the therapist. Sometimes, the therapist will meet with individuals or only some members of the family. The point of family therapy is to help members find ways to help each other.

Hypnotherapy
At a glance...
The word Hypnotherapy is taken from the Greek god of sleep, Hypnos, and, as you would expect from such a name, is a therapy based on utilising a state of deep relaxation.
It is aimed at directing a person’s imagination in a way that helps to elicit changes in perceptions, sensations, feelings, thoughts and behaviours.
The hypnotherapist works with the client to explore the therapeutic goals desired, discussing previous medical history, general health and lifestyle in order to decide on the best approach for the individual.
The hypnotherapist works in alignment with the client’s motivation and assists in developing the skills and inner-resources needed to overcome personal challenges, improve wellbeing and achieve goals.
Sessions involve...
In discussion with your hypnotherapist, you can pinpoint any problems you would like to address.
Hypnotic techniques are then put into practice to enable relaxation and bring about a trance like state.
This can be compared to a daydream in that you are not asleep, but in a state of heightened awareness; in fact you are fully conscious and in control, just more receptive to positive suggestions.
Progress can then be made by introducing new ideas, so that unhelpful thoughts and beliefs can be altered.

Psychosexual Therapy
At a glance...
Psychosexual therapy is a talking-based therapy for clients experiencing psycho-sexual disorders or relationship difficulties to help them arrive at a solution that is appropriate for them.
Psychosexual therapy helps individuals, or couples, to address their concerns or difficulties within a sexual relationship. Some people are able to deal with such problems themselves but for others, where distress or unhappiness persists, therapy can help.
The main point of therapy is to offer a safe and non-judgmental place and regular time to talk about improving a sexual relationship. Whilst the focus is generally on sexual or relationship issues, these may be linked with what is going on in the rest of your life – stress, problems at work, financial, family or physical difficulties – and it is also fine to talk about all these issues.
Sessions involve...
The therapist will arrange an initial consultation to talk about what help a client is looking for, and to explain more about how the therapist can help. Following sessions will then be tailored to address these specific needs.
Psychosexual disorders or relationship difficulties can often be tied up in other emotions and relationship dynamics, so some sessions explore topics outside of sex. The sessions will give the individual (and their partner if they join the session) the chance to talk through what is going on and to understand what could be causing the problem.
The therapist may well advise trying various exercises outside of the sessions, enabling clients to reflect on how well these went, and to discuss them during future sessions.

Psychotherapy
At a glance...
Psychotherapy refers to a range of treatments that can help with mental health problems, emotional challenges, and some psychiatric disorders.
It aims to enable clients to understand their feelings and what makes them feel positive, anxious, or depressed. This can equip them to cope with difficult situations in a more adaptive way.
Psychotherapy can provide help with a range of problems, from depression and low self-esteem to addiction and family disputes.
Anyone who is feeling overwhelmed by their problems and unable to cope may be able to benefit from psychotherapy.
Length: 1 hour
Sessions involve...
Psychotherapy is sometimes called a “talking treatment” because it uses talking, rather than medication. Some forms of psychotherapy last only a few sessions, while others are long-term, lasting for months or years.
Sessions are usually for 1 hour, once a week, and they follow a carefully structured process. Sessions may be one-to-one, in pairs, or in groups.
Techniques can include other forms of communication, such as drama, narrative story, or music.
